Text Box: Buena Vista School District R-31
Text Box: Welcome back to the second half of our school year. I hope that you and your family had a fun and relaxing break and I wish everyone a Happy New Year! We have been busy completing grades and they will be mailed home on Friday, January 11.
Snow and busses
I have heard frequently over the last month that this is a lot of snow for Buena Vista. With so much snow, our busses are running a little slower. Therefore, they are utilizing the front parking longer than when the roads are clear. Again, there is plenty of parking on the east parking lot and the drop-off lane is always moving. Please make sure your student dresses accordingly.

Student Government
Thank you to the APE Student Government Society for their Bring a Can Wear a Hat Days held on December 14th and 20th! All non-perishable food was donated to the Arkansas Valley Mission.

Text Box: Music Concerts
Our annual music concerts are coming up later this month. Students have been working hard to prepare songs, musical instruments, and dances. We kick off the first 3 concerts on January 24, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with 1st grade, 6:15 p.m. for 3rd grade, and 7:15 p.m. for 5th grade. January 29 is the second date for kindergarten at 5:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m. for 2nd grade, and 7:15 p.m. for 4th grade.
Spelling Bee
The APE spelling bee has been set for February 21. Flyers will be sent home on Friday, January 11. If your student is interested in the spelling bee, sign the flyer and have them return it to the office. The office will then deliver a spelling list to your student. If you have questions or would like to volunteer to help, please contact Diane Look-Gibb at 395-7070 or Stefani Franklin at 395-7020.

School on Jan. 14
Unfortunately, there was a misprint of a school holiday in the original district calendar. Martin Luther King, Text Box: Jr. Day is January 21, not January 14 as previously printed. We will have school on January 14!
Science Fair
The science fair is scheduled for March 15. Get a jump start and have fun learning some hands-on science. Packets will be coming in February. If you have questions or would like to volunteer, call Joe Glenn at 395-5805.

Snacks sold in Cafeteria
Beginning January 14, snacks will be sold in the cafeteria from 7:45-8:00 a.m. Students will be able to purchase string cheese, cheddar cheese, chocolate bear grahams, rice crispy squares, granola bars, and fresh fruit each for 35 cents. Snacks do not fall under the free and reduced lunch program. Any students wanting snacks must have money in their lunch account. If you have questions, please call the office at 395-7020.
Have a great month!
