What are the warning signs of youth suicide?

The following may be signs that someone you know may need support:

Know the Signs, and Get Help

  1. Withdrawal from friends, school or previously enjoyed activities

  2. Abandoning ambitions or goals

  3. Increase in alcohol or drug use

  4. Self-harm

  5. Inability to concentrate or think clearly

  6. Marked changes in behavior

Talk About It
Talking about suicide does not increase the risk.

  • Ask directly - "Are you thinking about killing yourself?"

  • Listen to the problem and give them your full attention.

  • Communicate, I care about you and want to get you help.
