The Buena Vista School District aims to provide both a challenging and responsive education to every learner. This is accomplished by designating clear targets for learning and matching these with local assessments that evaluate a student's mastery of these targets.
Challenging means: building standard background knowledge and skills utilizing classic and worthwhile texts and content; modeling and expecting high level application and analysis of thinking; opportunities to collaborate, debate, problem-solve and make decisions
Responsive Education means: a commitment to the individual learning needs and styles of students. BV Schools teachers have a "whatever it takes" stance in supporting students in reaching the peak of success.
Content Targets: BV Schools has developed Essentials and Content Targets to document the essential learning for grade spans (PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) and the specific learning targets for each grade.
